Hi Parents,
I hope everyone had a wonderful spring break. As some of you know I was in Vegas and it was wonderful! The children enjoyed seeing some of the pictures from the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam. The children also shared many stories about their spring break activities.
This week we talked mostly about the spring weather we have been experiencing. We borrowed a Spring story from the library (sorry, I forgot to write down the author before it was returned), but it discussed spring weather, animals and activities. On Wednesday and Thursday we had our Spring/Easter parties. We decorated hard-boiled eggs using crayons and food coloring and made rabbit ears. The rabbit ears fit perfectly in with our letter of the week which was R (Red Robot).
Every child also planted a flower (of their choice) and carefully buried it in the soil, watered it and chose a sunny spot on the table for it. Now, as long as I can remember to get the children to water them everyday, we should have some beautiful flowers growing very soon! (cross your fingers!)
Next week the Tuesday class will visit the personal care home for our monthly visit. In May it will be the Monday afternoon class, and June will be the Wednesday morning class. If you have any questions about these visits please let me know. The children have been enjoying their time we spend with the residents. It is very interesting to watch them interact and share stories.
I also wanted to share that we have had 4 new registrations come in for Nursery School sessions this year. This means that all our classes are now FULL (with the exception of Monday afternoons when there is one spot available). Please continue to share your experiences and recommendations with friends and family so this program can continue to grow while providing positive learning experiences in 2012-2013 and many years to come.
This week we had a brief meeting to discuss the upcoming graduation celebration. ALL CHILDREN OF THE NURSERY SCHOOL (including 3, 4 and 5 year old children) will be involved in the program on the evening of Thursday, June 21st. The ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. and finish up around 7:30 with snacks, pictures and visiting to follow. There will also be computer available for registration of 2012-2013 Nursery School sessions.
All registrations are required to be completed online at https://onlinechildcareregistry.gov.mb.ca/occrweb
as well as with Miss Frieze to confirm your preferred days of attendance.
If you have any questions about or if you are having problems accessing the online registry this please let me know I am happy to help you in any way I can.
There will be NO NURSERY SCHOOL classes on Monday, April 23rd due to Miss Frieze being away at a professional development workshop. There will be NO NURSERY SCHOOL classes on Monday, April 30th due to the school-age program using the classroom- the make-up day for this missed class will be held on Friday, May 4th.
I have been sending newsletters and most information out to parents via email, posting it on the website and talking to parents about upcoming events as much as possible. This helps reduce the amount of waste we are producing. Please let me know if you have not been receiving newsletters, field trip information or invitations for the graduation and Mothers' Day Tea. Then we can work out a better way for me to communicate this information to you personally.
Enjoy your long weekend!
