Last week we were talking about colors. Because it has been so cold, I brought buckets of snow inside and set them on the table with some small jars of colored water for an invitation for the children. They were all very interested in what happened when the the colors mixed on the snow. From this, we needed clean snow, so we took the colorful snow and transferred it to a bucket and predicted what would happen to the snow (melt and have - more water, less water or the same amount of water) . We wrote our predictions on the board and checked the predictions the next time we came to school
This week I invited the children to get creative with "loose parts", and create they did! We built towers and knocked them down only to build them up again in a completely different way.We made bridges and robots, wheels for cars and so much more all using tin cans, toilet rolls and wooden pieces. There was also a lot of exploration of paint making winter scenes with polar bears which continued into our Wednesday/Thursday circle.
