Good afternoon,
Okay, so I am just creating the program for the graduation and I was brought to tears... Where has this year gone!? We have done so much together and I have come to feel so close to all the families who are a part of this program in what has felt like such a short time.
THANK YOU, each and every person who has been involved with this program for making it such a success!
THANK YOU for bringing your smiling (or sometimes not smiling) children to me and trusting me to teach them about the world by providing exciting experiences to spark their imagination!
What a wonderful year it has been! Only 3 months left until we say farewell. :(
So back to my main purpose here- This week we welcomed Miss Samantha Robbins into our class. She will be at the programs daily from 7:30 to 11:30 and 3:00 to 5:30 until May 4th. Miss Robbins is a student from Assiniboine Community College and is currently completing her last practicum before earning her Early Childhood Education diploma. We look forward to the fresh ideas and exciting activities she will be planning for the programs. Upon recent observation of the children’s play she has decided to create a project and activities to expand on their knowledge of farming and animals. After a thorough discussion with the school age children she has many ideas which we will be implementing over the next month.
We have been talking about the letter S- Sammy Snake says SSSS in words. Many children are very familiar with this letter and enjoying writing it, saying it and learning more about this wonderful CONSONANT letter! (Not to be confused with our CONTINENTS!)
I had been waiting on some wonderful fact-filled books from scholastic by Erin Edison and finally they have arrived. This week we reviewed wind, sun, and clouds. The weather cooperated nicely to allow us to experience each weather condition as they were discussed. I wouldn't usually hope for rain, but if it rains on Monday/Tuesday we WILL be reading the book about rain.
Some of our flowers are growing very nicely. They got a little dry over the weekend, but I have now found a new solution to that (Thank you Jacquie Friesen!). If anyone has tips to share about growing these flowers they would be GREATLY appreciated. It doesn't matter how much research and reading I do- I have the furthest thing from a "Green Thumb".
