This week the classes learned about the letter E. It was a tricky sound to make and we had many variations of the sound which turned into lots of silly sounds. The children enjoyed learning about Eddy Elephant and his Letterland friends. They have started finding the new letters in their own names which is a sign that they are connecting their learning to what they already know! This is great!
We played a lot of games together this week and sang silly songs like "Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall eating mashed bananas, where do you think he put the peels? In Miss Frieze's pajamas!" They had fun rhyming and switching the names. This song is a lead up to another ABC song we will be learning next week.
Of course we all went on a field trip to the post office which was wonderful. Everyone listened carefully as we learned about how the mail gets to the post office and how they employees sort, cancel and distribute the letters. The children had a chance to 'cancel' real letters and some sent letters to their parents or Santa. We also got to see Santa's mailbox and we were reminded to send letters to him beginning December 1st to receive a letter back.
Next week- Monday the 31st and Tuesday November 1st will be our class Halloween parties. Children only have to bring their regular snacks and please wear a costume. We will parade through the school to show off our costumes to the older children and enjoy cookies at the end of class. **If your child does not normally attend Mondays or Tuesdays they may still attend a party if you would like to bring them in for one of those classes. Please let me know if you intend to come on a day you are not currently scheduled for. If you have any questions or concerns about the parties please contact Miss Frieze.
Have a great weekend everybody! Happy Halloween!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
