Welcome Old Man Winter!
Unfortunately due to the weather being colder than -25 we were unable to walk down to the dental office on Monday and Tuesday for our field trip. BOTH TRIPS HAVE BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR MONDAY, JANUARY 23rd and TUESDAY, JANUARY 24th at each regular class time. Let's hope the weather cooperates this time. We made web charts about what we think we will see at the Dental Office. Some of the responses from the children were "fish, a nurse, a big chair, tools, teeth, dirty teeth, water, a water squirter, toys and a toothbrush".
With the changes to the field trips we were able to get through letter Jj and letter Kk this week. Jumping Jim and Kicking King were introduced to the class. We did lots of movement activities imitating these characters.
The books we read in class are:
The Berenstain Bears Visit the Dentist by Stan and Jan Berenstain
The OK Book by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Tom Lichtenheld
and we also reviewed more information in The Human Body Book by Leslie McGuire.
Letter Bags will be distributed again next week. I need to make content lists so we can keep track of what is inside the bags, and it is becoming more time consuming than I anticipated so I will get them ready as soon as possible.
Thank you for your quick responses to the fundraising request. I am currently reviewing the replies and working with a small group of parent volunteers to develop a plan. If you would to be a part of this group via email please let me know. **Please note that intent of the option was not to imply that a donation is mandatory and that there is no expectation to receive a donation, but to assess income opportunities.**
I would like to apologize for the families who ordered books through scholastic book orders before Christmas and have not received their order. There was a miscommunication between myself and the center about the orders and they did not get placed in time. Your cheques are at the Nursery School and will be returned to you.
I will not be allowing children to eat candy as part of their snack at the Nursery School. Chocolate bars, or sugar candies including candy canes and sugar covered gummies will be sent back home in their snack bags. At the beginning of the year there were no treats being sent, and now there seem to be more and more. With our recent topic being about healthy choices I think it is important for this rule to be in effect, please save them for home.
Please email, call or text me with any questions you may have about field trip changes or skating next week.
Monday/Tuesday: Drop-off and pick-up at Nursery School. Children will walk down to the Dental Office and back during their class time.
Wednesday/Thursday: Drop-off and pick up at the SOURIS RINK. Children will have their snack (brought from home) and a small discussion before getting ready to go on the ice. Skating times are 10:00 to 11:00 and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Please have a great weekend. Stay warm and stay safe.
See you next week.
