You may have noticed your child(ren) talking about the life cycle of a butterfly, perhaps not in so many words. That is what we have been learning about during this short week and a bit of last. Once we discussed that the caterpillar builds and goes into a cocoon (not a
raccoon) we were able to open our minds to the wonderful world of this creature. The kids seem to be very fascinated by the facts, such as a butterfly cannot fly when it is cold because the flood cannot flow to the wings until it warms up. They have also enjoyed mimicking the butterfly's straw-like tongue that it sticks into the flower for nectar. We have began a project we will use for the gradation which has so far consisted of painting, sparkling, decorating and laminating butterflies. We can't wait to show them off in 3 weeks!!!
