Happy, Happy Halloween!
I hope everyone had a wonderful week! We were busy in the classroom with Halloween celebrations on Monday and Tuesday. We went on a costume parade through the middle years classrooms and sang songs for the big kids. Some of us were shy, and some of us had lots to say!
We read Mercer Mayer's story Herbert the Timid Dragon who teaches us that even if we do not feel brave sometimes we can still try to do challenging things and succeed. We also read Where's My Mummy? by Carolyn Crimi which is a cute story about a little Mummy who is having an exciting game of Hide and Shriek until he can't find big Mumma Mummy. The children had fun guessing the upcoming characters as we read through the story.
At our Halloween parties the children bobbed for pears and apples. It was fun to watch them try different ways of finally grabbing the fruit. We made neat looking ghosts on black paper by blowing white paint around with straws. It was challenging for some, but enjoyable. The ghosts were decorated with colorful buttons which the children chose.
Next week, Monday and Tuesday we will be having a guest speaker- Bill Strath from the Legion come into the classroom to speak with the children about Remembrance Day. He is able to come at 10:00 a.m. on both days. If this is not your child's regular class time and you would like him/her to attend please let me know as soon as possible ([email protected]).
As stated in the Nursery School Newsletter- I am looking for a few parents to meet with myself and Tara Mills to discuss the program. We would meet every few months for the remainder of the Nursery School year- the first meeting being November 15th. Please email Miss Frieze if you would be interested in attending.
Have a fun and safe weekend, let's hope the snow holds off a bit longer,
Miss Frieze
