This was a great day for a field trip. The children, myself and our parent volunteers walked down to the police station for an adventure they will never forget. We explored the office area, storage closets, police gym and the interview room. Did you know the special walls are soundproof? They felt really cool. We found the camera up in the corner and waved at it, making funny faces.
The fingerprint dust was AMAZING!! We got to see Officer John magically make our "invisible" fingerprints appear on the plastic sheet. We learned that our fingerprints are special to us and nobody in the entire world has the same ones as us.
The groups today enjoyed mostly the police car at the end of the tour. They explored the inside front and back as well as the trunk. We turned on the lights and sirens which were very loud (some of us covered our ears). Officer Acquisto also let us crawl into the backseat- we did not all fit. After an exciting tour we said thank-you and goodbye then returned to the classroom to play red light/green light and Who Stole the Cookie!? What a fun day!!
