Today we gathered items that we found in nature and made a collage. Here is our masterpiece.
The other day while browsing through Value Villiage, I hit the jackpot. I found 2 bags of corks! We have done a few activities using corks and I have many more planned. First we made boats out of the corks and put them in the water table.
We also painted with corks. We used paper towel for a different sensory experience. The paper towel soaked up the paint to give the paintings a different effect. - Lisa
After the children came in from playing outside I wanted to do some painting without brushes. I looked in our great tickle trunk of painting instruments and these are what I found. There were lots rollers with different patterns, stamps and some mitts that had textures on them. The children took turns and had a lot of fun. Brenda
Today one of the boys mentioned snowmobiling. Our children lead and we do our best to provide a experience for play and learning. Brenda
It's 'fine motor friday'. Haha. We practiced our fine motor skills by stretching elastics over soup cans. It may sound like a minimal activity but stretching elastics takes a lot of fine motor skills, concentration and coordination. -Lisa
Today the daycare was a sea of red and pink. The children were proud to show off their Valentine outfits. Thanks to Maria for the great decorations and Ang for the heart shaped pancakes. There were many fun activities today. My activity was short but sweet. I made white shaped hearts out of paper towel and filled them with red Koolaid powder. I had the children squirt them with water and magically they turned red! It did not take long but the children were delighted. I made red sparkly play dough and we used heart shaped candy trays to make pretend cookies. Play dough is a great sensory activity and it always pleases.
Once again it was cold outside and we couldn't go out and play. So I decided to make it Gross motor Wednesday and play catch and other stuff with the kids,it was based on a lot of different areas like team work, knowledge animal walks and listening to others words. It also work on patients and taking turns. each kid had so much fun playing more pics to come through out the day
We have a subway at daycare! The Subway in Souris has been extremely generous and have donated many items so we could setup a little shop at daycare to play in. We would like to thank the owners for their donations! The children are loving this dramatic play area.-Lisa
While the preschoolers were sleeping I set this up for them to do when they woke up!
It is a gigantic mirror with paint on it! We used our hands to mix the colours to make different colours, wrote words in the paint and squished the paint through our fingers. It was a great sensory experience. -Lisa.
