Well, what a day we had today! While helping a few friends in the dress up area, other children came over to us and said that they would like to dress up too! As there are not too many dress up clothes out on the shelves, some feelings were getting a little bit hurt. I talked to the children about what they would like to wear if they could pick any of the dress up clothes that we have and they started to list off a bunch of the clothes that we have in the storage room. So, we decided to have a fashion show! And what a show it was. We sat down at one of the tables and talked about all the costumes that we had and what we would like to wear. We then discussed as a a group what was needed for our fashion show to take place. We came up with the following: music, a runway, people to watch us, boyfriends, different costumes, a camera to take pictures and a space to do it in. Soon, our group of 5 children had grown to 12 children participating so I enlisted Hannah's help. We discussed: where in the center would be a good place to do the fashion show and decided that we would get ready in the sideroom and that the library would be a great place to walk out into; what would make a good runway for all of the children to walk on and came up with the big blocks. Soon, a group started to move blocks to make a runway for the children to walk on. Once that was done, we headed to the sideroom to pick out our costumes. Once the children (and Hannah) had picked out their costumes, we listened to the music and chose what songs we would like to walk out to. We had a practice on how to walk like a model, a dinosaur, a caveman, a princess, and a lion. Soon, it was time to get on with the show. Our other daycare friends took their seats and away we went! We all had a great time modeling our costumes for all of our friends and teachers to see!
