Hey there folks, Courtney here! Today like all days I started it off by checking out Pintrest. I found a fun little weather activity involving shaving foam and blue food coloring. I introduced the activity to a group of children during circle time. I asked the children what they knew about rain. They told me that rain was wet, rain came from the clouds and that rain made puddles. I then asked why does it come from the clouds?! The children then replied that when a cloud gets too full of water it needs to pee a little bit out so it doesn't get uncomfortable. I praised thier intelegence and had a little chuckle. We then sang some songs about rain such as "it's raining, it's pouring" and "rain rain go away". It was about time to wrap up our circle so I brought in a glass of water and sprayed shaving foam on it and asked the children to tell me what it was supposed to look like. Instantly they said "CLOUDS" then I put a few drops of blue food coloring onto the shaving foam and asked what they thought that was " RAIN" was thier ever so educated reply! After a moment the food coloring worked its way threw the foam and the children watched as thier own little cloud started to rain.
