Wow! It is December already! The children were excited to learn that we have started a new month and when we get up to the number 25 on the calendar it will be Christmas time. They were all very interested in talking about Christmas and winter- so we did. One class made paper snowmen and the others chose to draw winter pictures. Everyone has been working on holding their scissors properly and cutting paper carefully. We did more practicing for the Christmas Concert and sang other Christmas songs as well. On the last day of class this week we learned about Harry Hat Man the letter 'Hh'. He has a song which I will post a link to below. The Thursday class had their turn to visit the school library to borrow books- the other groups will visit on Monday.
Some of the stories we have been reading over the last couple weeks are:
The Twelve Days of Christmas, By: Hilary Knight
First Snow in the Woods, By: Carl R. Sams II and Jean Stoick
Just Me and My Puppy, By: Mercer Mayer
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, By: Laura Joffe Numeroff
Sadie and the Snowman, By: Allen Morgan
I Want to Be a Vet, By: Dan Liebman
Five Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice, By: Steve Metzger
George's Antlers, By: Bruno St-Aubin
Please remember that the Daycare Christmas Concert will be held on Thursday, December 15th at the Avalon Theatre. Everyone is welcome. If your child will not be attending the Christmas Concert to perform, please let the staff know so we can make alternate arrangements for their part in the song or play.
Thank you.
Enjoy the warm weather this weekend,
Miss Frieze
