Attention Parents: Bills are ready. They have been sent from the daycare and will be in your mailbox at your child's next Nursery School session.
This week the children practiced their creative talents by finger painting (some chose to use a brush instead) they made messy masterpieces- some of which will be framed and sold in the children's art auction at the Halloween Social Fundraiser next weekend (October 29th at Souris Community Hall).
I apologize that the newsletter has not been distributed yet- it will be sent out to all parents on Monday, October 24th. There is a lot of information for parents about upcoming events and volunteer opportunities. Thank you for taking the time to review the newsletters as they are handed out.
We did not focus on a particular Letterland letter this week. We reviewed the letters A, B, C and D and I provided creative activities for the children to complete using the letters they needed more work on. My main focus on the letters at the moment is helping the children recognize them. They have been practicing writing the letters on their worksheets if they choose. If you would like extra alphabet activities set home with your child to do please let me know.
Books we read this week:
*Horray for Fall! By Sarah Willson: The book is about some interesting characters who are enjoying the fall leaves. A couple of the classes had time to play outside after reading this story.
*Picking Apples and Pumpkins By Amy and Richard Hutchings: This story follows a young girl as she visits an apple orchard and pumpkin patch. She picks apples from high up in the trees and picks special pumpkins. We read this book and discussed different things you can do with apples and pumpkins.
*The Scarecrow's Hat By Ken Brown: This is a great book about a chicken who wants a straw hat. He works hard helping various animals to finally earn the hat from his friend the scarecrow. Some of the items in the story are a hat, a ribbon, a pair of glasses, a blanket and a walking stick. After reading this book I played a game with the children where I hid the objects from the book under a blanket and took one away. The children had to guess which object was missing.
Please make note that FIELD TRIPS will occur this coming MONDAY AND TUESDAY!! If your child attends daycare on these afternoons I can pick them up from the daycare to walk down to the Nursery School. Please review the field trip letter for other information.
I would like to thank every parent and child at the Nursery School for their support, help, suggestions and enthusiasm in this program. I cannot explain how wonderful this experience has been for me and I am excited for our experiences to come. I am always open to receiving feedback about the program and welcome your comments, ideas and suggestions anytime by phone/text, email or in person of course!!!
Enjoy your weekend!
